Raffaele Scoccia is an Italian composer and pianist whose music blends contemporary classical, cinematic atmospheres, and introspective minimalism. Born in Italy, he spent ten years living and working in New York, an experience that broadened his artistic perspective and became an important part of his musical journey. He developed an early connection with music, composing his first melodies as a teenager after discovering the piano at the age of fourteen.

At sixteen, Scoccia met the eminent composer and pianist Luis Bacalov, Academy Award winner for the soundtrack of The Postman, with whom he continued to study classical piano and also began studying harmony and composition. Bacalov remained his mentor and teacher for many years. During those years of study, a profound personal bond also developed between them, growing beyond the teacher-student relationship into a lifelong friendship and relationship that remained deeply meaningful to Scoccia throughout his life.

Scoccia has received several distinctions, including the “Oscar of the Youngs,” awarded during the Giornata d’Europa event at Rome’s Campidoglio, and an award for Best Arrangement at the Festival di Sanremo.

His music is characterized by nostalgic lyricism, emotional depth, and contemplative silence. His solo piano compositions represent his most authentic form of expression, transforming memory, nature, and inner reflection into intimate sonic landscapes where melody and silence coexist.

For live performances, Scoccia presents a solo piano set featuring original compositions performed on an upright piano. The concert is conceived as an intimate and immersive musical journey, allowing each piece to unfold through melody, atmosphere, and silence.

Rather than seeking complexity, Scoccia believes in the expressive power of simplicity. Each composition begins with an experience—a landscape, a memory, or a fleeting feeling—and becomes an invitation for listeners to discover their own story within the music.
